Accessibility Statement
Effective Date: May 1, 2021
At Friends of Whittier Narrows, we believe the story of community organizing and environmental protection should be accessible to everyone. We are committed to making our archival website as accessible and inclusive as possible for people of all abilities.
Our Commitment
We aim to ensure our website is designed and developed in alignment with best practices and standards defined by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, wherever feasible.
This includes efforts to:
- Use clear, legible fonts and sufficient color contrast, particularly against our dark themes
- Ensure our site is navigable by screen readers and keyboard-only users
- Provide alternative text for historical images, protest photos, and documents
- Ensure animations and transitions do not cause discomfort
Ongoing Improvements
We recognize that accessibility is an ongoing journey. We regularly review our website and content to identify and implement improvements that make our online archive more usable and welcoming for all.
